The day includes the following:-

A masterclass with the fabulous Jo Hawes.
Jo has in the last 15 years been involved in the casting of children for more than 75 West End productions on behalf of ALL the  major producers.

Jo will be bringing her expertise directly to you in ‘The Art of Auditioning’.

Having seen many children unsuccessful in the audition process because they have not shown their considerable talents to a panel of directors who only have a very short time in which to make a decision, Jo’s classes are specifically designed to empower children and to help them understand what creative teams are looking for, how to behave and how to use their nerves.  They also include a wealth of practical information and how to develop good audition technique.

The classes are fun and will help children to view auditions as an enjoyable challenge rather than a scary experience.  Children take away a sheet of tips reminding them of the things she has covered in the masterclass.

Each child will need to bring with them a poem or verse to say for Jo Hawes to assess them.  Think about the presentation of the piece – this is the most vital.

Along with the exciting master class above with Jo Hawes we offer included in the price a full casting workshop day including photos as follows:

1. Photo shoot with Mark Davis M.A.D. photography and chosen head shot ready to use with Expressions Casting Agency.
2. Personal Interview with the Proprietor Maxine Glasby with a view to representation with Expressions Casting Agency.

There are many child agencies but we pride ourselves in being one of the minority that offer full training for your child so they know what to expect at a possible casting.  We also get to know the child fully which enables us to be able to cast them suitably.

Children will be trained by fully qualified and experienced performers including the Proprietor Maxine Glasby who has a wealth of experience in the Casting Industry.

All staff are fully CRB checked and children are in their care the full time.

Children would need to bring the following:-

1. Outfit for photo shoot which will include the Headshot to be used for future casting with Expressions Casting Agency.
2. Packed Lunch and Drinks and snacks for the day.
3. Lots of energy!

Parents will be able to drop off their child at the start of their day and return at 2.30pm to pick up your child.

Q&A’S ABOUT EXPRESSIONS CASTING AGENCY

Do I have to pay for expensive portfolios of photos? 

1. No a professional shoot with one of London’s top photographers Mark Davis M.A.D. photography is included in the shoot with also the chosen headshot free to be used by Expressions Casting Agency for casting purposes

Would I be able to purchase the head shots taken on the day?

1. A few days after the shoot M.A.D. Photography will send to you direct the contacts from your child’s shoot and full information should you wish to purchase any of the images.  The chosen image to be used for casting purposed with Expressions Casting Agency will be available to you free of charge.

What should my child wear for the shoot?

1. Please ensure the outfit is suitable for the child’s age.  No low neck lines please and no visible logos on the front of the outfit.  Remember with casting head shots for children – Directors like the children to look like children so no heavy make up (if any) for children at all please.  Please ensure your hair is styled nicely but in the child’s natural style e.g. If the child’s hair is normally straight (and would be straight when attending the casting) then please do not curl the hair.  The hair needs to be styled well but naturally.  The key to children’s head shot is be as natural as possible.  ‘Chocolate box’ style photos are not the fashion in today’s day and age and our clients like to see the children natural.

Is there any hidden fee or yearly administration fee that is required to be paid to join Expressions Casting Agency?

1. No we pride ourselves in being one of the few agencies that do not charge yearly administration fees or upfront fees to join.  The only price is for the casting workshop day including the shoot.

What is the commission you will take if my child is successful in getting work?

1. 20%

How much notice do you give me to attend castings and where are they?

1. Castings are nearly always late notice (1-2 days notice on average)  We never have same day castings.  The castings are usually always in central London although there are sometimes Manchester casting for Northern and Midlands kids.

Does my child have to live in London to attend the castings?

1. Not at all, we represent children from all over the UK.  The only thing we ask is that there has to be a commitment that you will be able to attend the castings where possible.

What happens if I don’t attend castings?

1. We offer a 3 strike policy, each time a child cant attend a casting with issue them with a strike, after 3 strikes your representation will be reviewed.

Can I join other agencies?

1. Yes you are more then welcome to join as many agencies as required.

How will you promote my child?

1. We will have full representation at Expressions Casting Agency via Agent File (A computerized Agents package) also your child will be featured on our secure password enabled website.

Will I get lots of castings or work?

1. There is never any guarantee on the amount of castings or work we can achieve for your child.  We cast children wherever possible when they fit the specification required.  There could be castings once a week, once a month or once a year – it all depends on what the clients are looking for at the time.

Is my child’s representation limited to a certain amount of time?

1. No we represent your child for as long as you require, if a child in unavailable for long periods of times we would require you to notify the office and in the case of holidays.  There is no limit to the time Expressions Casting Agency represents your child.

Do you take on new applicants at all times?

1. No our books only open once per year.  New children are taken on from our workshop days which are held once a year (Midlands day and London day)

Bookings for this exciting day are strictly limited due to the masterclass with Jo Hawes and are on a first come first served basis.  We do envisage the day to be very busy.

To reserve your place we require a booking fee of £25, the remaining balance of £50 is due 2 weeks before the event (28th April 2012)
